Ship Upon An Unending Ocean

by Thomas R.

Ocean surrounds them on all sides
For nothing else could be
Only these million miles of sea
Which lack for nothing except tides

The Ocean provides all their meat
Ship provides any other necessity
Including her love for those of her odd "city"
So all feel this life complete.

She has forgotten when this voyage began
Or if life was ever otherwise
All tales of land she knows must be lies
For waters are the only truth for Man

Once though she received a message from far away
A signal across many a light year
That talked of how this was just a failed Dyson Sphere
Pure nonsense so she erased it away

So life continues with her crew gladly in stow
Their happiness she knows is true
Listening to their joyful noise while surrounded by forever blue
Her only fear the words "Land Ho!"
