Michael Tyzuk writes...

about “The Reading Room” in issue 89.

Quoth Jerry: "He's been paired with other writers, sadly to his detriment, but the recent collaborations with Steven Baxter are gold."

Personally I rather enjoyed the collaboration with Gentry Lee. As much as I love reading Arthur Clarke I found Rendezvous With Rama all but unreadable, however when he paired up with Gentry Lee I found the writing style and story pace much more accessible.

Another Clarke/Lee novel I particularly enjoyed was Cradle. I found it had a definite down-to-Earth quality that not all of Clarke's work seems to have.

To which Jerry responds that there’s no accounting for tastes and, “Personally, I found the Clarke/Lee pairing sadly lacking, but a difference of opinion is what makes a horserace.”
