Bewildering Stories biography

Maksym Popovych is an aspiring author of Ukrainian origin. In his day job as a human rights lawyer, he divides his time between London and Amsterdam. His writing is primarily driven by his lived experience as a refugee fleeing war.

Maksym is currently working on his debut novel, which delves into the anxieties surrounding the rise of artificial intelligence. His greatest literary inspiration is Kazuo Ishiguro, whose novels blend speculative elements of science fiction with exploration of contemporary societal issues.

Maksym’s interests in literature tend to focus on literary fiction and narrative non-fiction that puts a spotlight on human rights abuses and war-related stories. He believes that flash fiction is a great form for this purpose. In terms of long-form fiction, he favours high-concept novels with a speculative twist.
