Bewildering Stories biography

I am a dual citizen of the USA and Norway, born in London, England. I moved from London to California at age 10, earned my undergraduate degree in Philosophy at Stanford University and my Ph.D. in Political Science at UCLA.

After teaching at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of Washington, I moved to Norway in 2001 to take up a position as full Professor of Political Science at the Norwegian University of Science & Technology.

I have written and published 16 books of history, co-authored an additional three scholarly books, and authored & published two novellas and six volumes of absurdist verse.

I live in Saksvik, a bedroom community outside of Trondheim, just down the road from Stiklestad. We have visited Stiklestad, the site of the 11th century battle and its museum. In Norway, the battle of Stiklestad stands as a pivotal moment in the country’s history.
