Bewildering Stories biography

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up here in a very musical family. I’ve always loved singing and writing, and my career eventually spanned over 60 years working for music in TV, Film Scoring, Concert and Sound Recordings, as a singer, lyricist and choral director. I served as Choral Director for the Oscars for over twenty years, and sang on a thousand film and tv scores, as soloist or choral singer.

I’ve had opportunities to write lyrics for film and recordings for composers Dave Grusin, Burt Bacharach, Dominic Frontiere, Dick DeBenedictis, Don Ellis, A.Trovaioli and others... And if you’re familiar with The Simpsons or Family Guy - I sing on both shows’ Main Titles.

My passion for writing began as soon as I could scribble words on a page! My short stories, poetry and personal essays have been included in Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Magazine, Raven’s Perch, MockingHeart Review, The OffBeat, McNeese Review, The Missouri Review (audio) The Voices Project, Between the Lines Anthology: Fairy Tales & Folklore Re-imagined, Los Angeles Press, and Funny in Five Hundred.

Thanks to busy schedules with music productions, I was never able to stay away from Hollywood long enough to do the MFA program at University of iowa, though I had been accepted into the poetry program in 1998. Thus began my “every summer” participation in the Iowa Summer Writing Program, at the U. of Iowa, in Iowa City. This will be my 27th year of attendance, and Iowa City has come to feel like my home town!
