Brent is retired from a 30-year career as a physician working in inner-city emergency departments. He has published in academic journals and textbooks, but Bewildering Stories is publishing his first work of fiction.

“The Gnomes’ Conspiracy” introduces Westerton, who is something of a self-appointed controller of property appearance in his very proper neighborhood. Since he can’t have a neighbor’s garden gnomes removed legally, he will do it illegally. Little does he suspect the fiendish counter-plot that is in operation against him.
