Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

C. E. Powell

C. E. Powell lives in the San Francisco Bay area where she also works as a software engineer. She holds degrees in English and Computer Science. She has published her poetry widely to favorable recognition.

The Copenhagen Interpretation” alludes by its title to the collapsiing wave function of Quantum Theory. The principle that subatomic waves take form only when measured — or “perceived” — appears to support George Berkeley’s philosophy of Idealism, which holds that the same is true of anything. The remaining questions are: Who’s doing the perceiving, and what does it mean?

In this case, Matthew seems to be a real person who has recollapsed — in a manner of speaking — into an imaginary companion of Danny’s. And Zoe and Ellie, and Matthew’s parents, do they really exist? Or are they victims of foul play? Danny figures it might be nice to know.
