Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

Gabriel Peña

Gabriel is from Mexico and holds a degrfee in English with a specialty in Creative Writing. He also hosts a YouTube channel: “Gabe Talks,” which specializes in gaming information.

Gabriel says he enjoys writing in “a variety of genres” because a “good storyteller shouldn’t be limited to a single genre.” Just wondering: how many authors actually achieve that goal? Offhand, your editor associates Theodor Storm with novellas and many a French author with either prose, drama or poetry. But world-class fame in multiple genres? Shakespeare, Goethe, Victor Hugo, Oscar Wilde... That’s a tall order, but our readers can surely name more. What do you think: is “a variety of genres” a praiseworthy or vaulting ambition?

Whispered Cries” will surely affect readers by its realism and the hopelessness of Claudia’s predicament. Does the figure of La Llorona, well-known in Mexican folklore, come to her rescue? At least, what does she illustrate that Claudia really needs?

Gabriel Peña’s bio sketch can be found here.
