Linda Strange

Linda lives in Connecticut “between two streams” and with a husband. She has published essays about current events in the Ukraine and in Russia, and she has published short fiction widely. She is currently working on a novel set in East and West Germany as well as stories about a family immigrating from the Cape Verde islands.

“Delicioso” is a story about Gee, an immigrant girl in a grade school, where she knows little English. Some classmates mock the cuzco she has brought for lunch as pan de maïz, but a classmate, José, loves it. Perhaps one day Gee will be allowed to discover that cornbread is also considered something of a delicacy in parts of the U.S.A.
