Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

Zachery Brasier

Zachery lives in Salem, Massachusetts, where he is a member of the Salem Arts Association. His artwork and fiction focuses on space concepts, often with a “retro” theme, and has appeared in several journals and an anthology.

Peace-2” is best described by a note from the author:

“Peace-2” is the story of Vasily Dolgov, a Soviet aerospace engineer in the late 1980s. He is working on Polyus, a military space satellite, and tormented by his part in the increasing militarization of space. However, he’s not sure that he has the bravery to do something about it or if the actions of one person really matter in the long term. On top of it all, the nation around him is falling apart.

This story is based on the historical Polyus program, on Collapse by Vladislav M. Zubok, my personal travels to Moscow, the contemporary American feeling of living within a country falling apart, and my own concerns about the current push to militarize space.
