Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

Stephen S. Bondar

Stephen currently lives in Toronto but is originally from Winnipeg. He has an M.A. degree in Byzantine history from the University of Manitoba.

Just One Iota” dramatizes vividly one fateful day in Byzantine history: September 11, 1185. The narrator is a very self-protectively inconspicuous scribe who observes closely the complex interactions between Isaac Angelus, who is a potential political assassin‘s victim, and his mother, the firm and outspoken Euphrosyne. The story dramatizes a way in which history might be recorded as dry facts in scrolls and books while the real, live history took place in a single, powerful drama behind the scenes in the mansion of a besieged noble family.
