Black Aurora Quiet Heart

by John Eric Ellison

Wind splits the mountain ridge
Shadows cross that snowbound bridge

Your breath cuts the cold
A fire fierce and old
Stormlight crowns your hair
Pulling me anywhere

Your heartbeat in the frost—
The sound I chase at any cost

You are the storm I fall into
Dark, burning, true
A black aurora’s blue
Tearing the night in two for you

Your shadow breaks the snow
A flame beneath its glow
The North bows as you pass—
My fate forged in your grasp

Moonblood on the air
I rise because you’re there

You are the storm I fall into
Wild, ancient, new
Ravens circle you
Pulling my quiet heart to you
Lead: Heart of fire
Group: Rise — rise
Lead: Night draws near
Group: Here — here

Across the iron sky
Your spirit pulls me high
Bright runes flare beneath our feet
Two shadows bound to meet

You are the storm I fall into
Truer than you knew, deeper than rue
A sky split open through and through—
I give my quiet heart to you

Wind carries your flame
And whispers your name
