Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

Bill Carr

Bill Carr was originally from New York but now lives in North Carolina. He is an education specialist and has published short fiction very extensively.

The Effect of Moralistic-Based Team Building on Evolution sees three types of “teams” or social organizations based on different purposes: physical survival, cultural organization, and values beneficial to all people. Hence societies generate such organizations as the military, the arts, and religions.

One of the more current instances of “team” evolution occurs in the world of sports. Contrary to George Orwell’s pessimistic view that the Olympic Games were “war without the guns,” the games sublimate armed conflict and make it irrelevant. In the process, athletes from different countries often realize they have more in common with each other than they have with their own countries’ leaders.

Today, the world is capable of achieving in reality what has always been thought of as utopistic: food, clothing, shelter, clean energy and health care for all peoples, everywhere. However, nations’ political and economic “team building” too often produces leaders who have an interest only in what they think benefits themselves.
