Gary Inbinder

celebrates year 20 with Bewildering Stories

In celebration of Gary Inbinder’s 20th year with Bewildering Stories, we cite his first publication, the short story Exterminator.

Our welcome message in issue 186, dated February 20, 2006, says that the story “takes a very steely-eyed look at a world in which assisted suicide has become so commonplace that it’s a private industry. The story takes a chilling look at what happens to those who work in that industry.” Now, two decades later, “Exterminator” remains a cautionary tale bearing on problems in some governments’ policies.

We also bring you one of Gary’s personal favourites: Beyond Dead End, a short story in issue 519 (April 1, 2013).

In forthcoming issues, we expect to cite other favourites of Gary Inbinder’s that have appeared over the years and that are, like everything else, easily accessible at Bewildering Stories. Meanwhile, Gary Inbinder’s full Bewildering Stories bibliography can be found at Michael E. Lloyd’s Titles, Authors Genres website.

Happy 20th anniversary year, Gary, and thank you for providing Bewildering Stories with so much to celebrate in your roles as an author and as a Review Editor!

We hope Gary Inbinder is setting a precedent that will allow us to cite personal favourites from other long-time members of the Bewildering Stories editorial community.
