H. L. Dowless is a national and international academic instructor in English as a second language. He has written fiction and non-fiction for more than thirty years. He has enjoyed a lifetime of outdoor activities ranging from big-game hunting to archeological field work. He most enjoys meeting interesting, creative people.

“What Is This?” is a moralistic poem that counsels patience in the face of setbacks and advises ignoring unwarranted criticism.
