Wrinkles in Life
by Michael Lee Johnson
Growing old etches wrinkles into our lives.
Neither skin creams nor prayers
can smooth this condition away.
Laugh often with close friends.
The wrinkles grow either way; they deepen.
Experience weaves its own dense tapestry,
train of thought of gold and shadows.
The clock ticks onward still,
with old skeleton keys in hand.
No key unlocks the past.
In each crease, a memory lingers.
