Sanchita Das

Ms. Das is a native of India but has been living with her husband and a ward in the Netherlands since 2019. She has earned an honors degree in commerce from Calcutta University, taken courses in print and television journalism and has earned a Masters degree in Environmental studies as well as a course on Mental Health.

“I’m a Weirdo, and I’m Real” is a title that will challenge the readers to agree with it, because the text appears to consist mainly of a diary written by a certain “Sanchita.” Readers are implicitly invited to consider ways in which this “Sanchita” might be a “weirdo.”

One way might consist of occasional flamboyance in a choice of polysyllabic adverbs, such as “contemporaneously.” Readers will be inclined to muse: “At the same time as what else in history?” And similarly in other cases. Self-centred readers will say, “That isn’t the way I’d write!” Others may respond, “Nor I, but who would? It might be interesting to find out.”
