Alyssa is “a New Englander at heart” but lives with her immediate family in New York City. Her fiction writing has won prizes and recognition.

“Devil’s Purse” brings on stage a story of sibling rivalry between Mae, age 6, and her older sister, Josie,. who resents being made to act as a kind of full-time baby-sitter for Mae and make sure she doesn’t have accidents or get into trouble. This role will make Josie face a hard decision when Mae becomes inordinately fond of a dangerous animal that has been given lodging in their father’s aquarium.
