J. J. Carswell, is a composite of Joe Packer, a professor at Central Michigan University whose most recent book is on weird fiction and pessimism, and Seth Gannon, whose non-fiction has appeared in Slate, The Paris Review Daily, Pacific Standard, and elsewhere. Seth's short stories have appeared in Meridian, 34th Parallel, and The Prism Review; his first novel is represented by Chris Kepner of the Kepner Agency.
