I grew up in New Bern, North Carolina. I began college as an Engineering major but ended up with a degree in English. I live in a time that has allowed me to work in both blacksmithing and computer-assisted design/drafting (though not simultaneously).
In addition to writing fiction and other prose, I write songs and play in an indie-folk band called Middleshire. I also enjoy boating, browsing at flea markets, and building props and other projects in my workshop. I live with my wife and two children in Salisbury, North Carolina.
I have written for The Salisbury Post and a living history magazine. I have also written training material for Tryon Palace and the Carolina Renaissance Festival & Artisan Marketplace.
