Holding a B.A. degree in English from Colgate University, J.E. Deegan taught Language Arts in public and private schools for nineteen years. He has also worked as a journalist and as a communications specialist in advertising and public relations. Sports have played a large part in his life; he played football and baseball at Colgate and coached football and track at the high school level.
Deegan’s interest in writing developed at a young age, and has included screenplays, short stories and poetry in addition to novels. He has had over fifty articles on a variety of subjects published in trade journal magazines. He also has a published volume of poetry, The Moments in Between, and has had short stories published in a number of small-press magazines. In addition to his first novel, In Dark Covenant, he has completed two screenplays and a collection of short stories entitled Limboland, published in 2006 by Fine Tooth Press and available on the Internet.
Born in New York City in 1941, J.E. Deegan is married and has three children, Michael, Valerie, and Patrick. Deegan and his wife June reside in Spring, Texas, just north of Houston, where he is working on a second novel dealing with the occult.
