Monica Nickolai

Bewildering Stories biography

Monica Nickolai is a writer and multi-media artist whose work revolves around story-telling and language. She received an MFA degree in writing from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her artwork has appeared in the Richard Gray Gallery in the John Hancock Building, in the private collection of Mayor Daley, and in a collaborative public art piece, “Project Cabrini Green,” which has been featured internationally.

Her written work has appeared as fiction in Burial Day Books and in plays performed in St. Louis, Chicago, and Seoul. She was awarded The World Less Traveled Grant to travel to Japan for a novel in progress, and an art publication and DVD she helped to create won the Gold Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

She currently teaches writing courses at Maryville University, and her website is www.monicanickolai.com.
