I find writing to be like pulling teeth without anesthesia. That could explain why my output is so sporadic.
It is difficult to sustain attention on an effort that is only associated in your mind with failure. If there has ever been a success, keep that in mind as you toil.
I will keep Bewildering Stories in mind as I go back to pulling teeth.
