Interview with Michael Schulman’s cats, Mimo and Lucky
summer 2024
Mimo: Our owner, Michael, is somewhat reclusive. He lives in a foreign country and claims it fuels his writing focus. His only hobby is reading a ton of books. Well, he does a little hiking nowadays, too.
Lucky: That guy Emerson said something cool about nature.
M: And so did that other guy... hmm. Something about “stale modesties.” Wait a minute. Who was he?
L: We forgot.
M: Anyway, after a 20-year music venture, Michael turned to writing. He wrote for textbooks and examinations in South Korea and now edits web novels introducing Korean culture to an English-speaking audience. Check out his recent stories in Bulb Culture Collective, CommuterLit, and MetaStellar. And the guy was interviewed. He likes his ego to be stroked.
L: The guy thinks he’s Hemingway.
M: Yeah. (kitten giggle) And he dreams big for his novels. But when is that damn agent going to call back already?
L: Who knows? Still, Michael showers us with compliments, declaring animals — especially cats — superior to humans.
M: Misanthrope. At least we love him.
L: If he strikes it rich, we anticipate inheriting his wealth for premium catnip and towering cat condos. He owes us big time.
M: Yeah. His “original” ideas often come from our midnight whispers into his ears. Michael may think otherwise, but we cats know better!
