Nicola Somerscales spent her childhood writing stories about far-away worlds, and now, after 12 years working in various administrative positions, has decided to enjoy a second childhood.

She grew up in the West Midlands, and after pursuing her artistic bent at university and gaining a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication, she relocated to the North Lincolnshire area with her fiancé, where they married and started a family together.

After completing a course in proofreading and copy editing, Nicola realised her real passion still lay with the written word, and, once again, she immersed herself in imaginary worlds, writing a number of science fiction novels and short stories in her spare time.

She also joined the on-line writing community ‘Universal Writers Group’ in October 2006, and was soon promoted to Assistant Manager status in recognition of her work helping others edit their writing for submission to agents and publishers.

She recently signed up with Creative Authors Ltd Literary Agency to put her writing career on a more professional footing, but still hopes to have as much fun with her writing as she’s had up to now.
