James A. Tweedie

Bewildering Stories biography

James A. Tweedie is an author, poet, photographer, composer, editor, publisher, and retired pastor who has lived and worked in California, Utah, Scotland, Australia, Hawaii, and presently in Long Beach, Washington.

He holds one undergraduate degree (Music and Humanities), two graduate degrees (Humanities and Divinity), one post-graduate degree (DMin), and a post-graduate certificate from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

As an author, among his 16 published titles are six novels, four collections of poetry, and one collection of short stories with Dunecrest Press. As a publisher, he has edited and published an additional 20 titles written by others.

His stories have appeared in regional and national anthologies and his poetry has appeared both nationally and internationally in The Lyric, Poetry Salzburg (Austria) Review, California Quarterly, Asses of Parnassus, Lighten Up Online, Better than Starbucks, WestWard Quarterly, Society of Classical Poets, Dwell Time, Fevers of the Mind, Sparks of Calliope, The Road Not Taken, Deronda Review, True Chili, and The Chained Muse.

His prose has been recognized with two Silver Awards from Writers of Tomorrow and a First-Place prize in the inaugural Edinburgh Festival Flash Fiction Contest. His poetry has earned him a Laureate’s Choice Award in the 2021 Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest, Winner in the 2022 100 Days of Dante Poetry Contest, First Place in the 2021 Society of Classical Poets International Poetry Competition, and the Quarterly Prize for Best Poem from The Lyric.
