What's Going On?
by Jerry Wright
Okay, I can't stand it. I need to know what's going on. And now I'm finding it. Thanks to the good folks at "Add Free Stats" we will have a pretty good idea of who our readers are, where they come from, and how long they stay. The Webalizer stats are still there, but even though I've tweaked them according to the guidelines, we either get crossover info from other websites on the same server or we get almost nothing. Irritating at best, confusing at worst.
So, I expect "great things". Or not. By the bye, if you click on the underlined Stats on our home page you are taken directly to our Statistics page. If you click on the Graphic, you get taken to the AFS Home page. Whatever floats your boat. However, the homepage has a "Rate BWS" button. For what that's worth.
We keep growing and growing. I've been thinking about putting a link in the review pages to Amazon.com. If anyone were to order a book from them, we'd get a penny or two. Should I do it? I've been to a number of our "Competitor" sites, and frankly, the mass of advertising is almost overwhelming, and certainly disgusting. Don't want it, don't need it. However, guys, when we make the transition to quarterly print magazine, there will have to be some advertising.
HA! I betcha Don's heart just skipped a beat right there. We have no plans to make any transitions of any sort, but, that doesn't mean we won't or shan't. I know I never had any plans to run the original BWS out to two years. That's a long time for a joke. It is no joke now. What it is, however, is a fine compendium of writers on the brink. (In Utley's case, we're not sure on which brink, but we're pretty sure there's a brink there somewhere...)
Oh yeah, got an email from a fellow who has gotten together a compendium of reviews regarding the 2004 Hugo nominations. He notified us that he'd linked to some of our reviews. Nice warm feeling there.
Well, that's all for now, and see ya next time at Bewildering Stories
