Commentary on an Archived Poet
by Ásgrímur Hartmannsson
Part II: Form
Part I appears in this issue.
On the form: Of ten poems, one rhymed. Not exactly something people would sing. Not even the one that rhymed. However, reading the last words only in the eighth, and to a lesser extent, in the tenth, makes for an interesting effect:
(No. 8, the last phrases only)
ask answers
turn path
hurt all
fighting peace past forgiveness
silence talking life up
selfishness giving deaths life
hate caring depression
happiness world solutions
sickness everyone parents kids betrayal trust beds
doctors talk listen up
everything life enjoy life
do have insecurity about leave back hurt
help others it
away to unnoticed lived lies truth
abilities famous themselves person
mothers there up drugs
lives it players guys children to hard means splits childhood
hurt to cry on others people
hero's are kids
kid divorced out
fight away down promises
children apart
guy is problems solutions Life.
I like it better that way. It has a strange, hidden meaning. It is full of strangely catchy phrases, don’t you think? Perhaps if I read it out loud and backwards, something will be summoned? Or clean it up, insert commas..?
