Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
J. R. Spaulding, Jr.
J. R. has an M.A. degree in Theatre History from Michigan State University and works as a teacher and theatre artist out of Detroit. In addition to working as an actor, director, technical director and instructor around the U.S., he has written plays that have been performed in the U.S. and U.K.
“A Panther Crossing the Sky” is an essay in an unusual form: an oral monologue intended for a live audience. The essay describes the author’s participation in an outdoor spectacle that celebrates Tecumseh’s place in American history. Readers may not be surprised to learn that it can be hazardous to stage a production with live horses, but they will surely appreciate the author’s account of being moved by the subject of the play and his own role in it.
