Steven has had a career in creating long-form historical drama and documentary projects for PBS and cable television. Prior to film school, he wrote some plays whlie driving a taxicab in New York City.
A Victorian Romance has an ultra-conventional title that is bound to lure in readers expecting a literary world like that of Jane Austen. Nope, none of that. It will be a scenario that a contemporary — Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray — might have looked upon with a malicious grin. “Lady” Beatrice Belham is no lady; she’s a late teenager who is hot to trot upwards on the nobility’s social ladder. But there is a rule in ladder-climbing: skipping rungs is likely to cause a fall.
