Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
Paul Cesarini
Professor Cesarini is a dean at Loyola University, in New Orleans. He has published short fiction prolifically over the years and also edits the Mobile Tech Weekly. He’s a big fan of science fiction from the first half of the 20th century.
“His Majesty’s Overhaul” might suggest “his majesty’s overalls” briefly but exactly. The story is a rip-snorting satirical farce that would have won the approval of no less than the “good doctor” François Rabelais, whose 16th-century short story of King Picrochole won enduring fame. If the Renaissance humanist could compare the two stories, he might be somewhat taken aback at the resurgence of neo-medieval politics five hundred years later.
