Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Viacheslav Iatsko
Mark Twain once remarked in wide-eyed, innocent admiration, “In France, even the children speak French!” Well, by the same token, anybody who speaks Russian must think English is a piece of cake. And Slava Iatsko writes English with marvelous fluency. Admittedly, Professor Iatsko has a professional interest: he is also a linguist, and he has an impressive monograph posted on his home page to show for it.
We thank Slava for permission to print his story “Two Days in the Life of Alex Lavrov,” in this issue. We also have our eye on a factual article of his that may shed some light on aspects of Russian history as seen from a Russian rather than a Western viewpoint.
Slava is also a proficient poet. His talents range from humor to political satire to fairy tales. He has a very pretty story in verse on his home page that he wrote for his young daughter, Marusia.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Slava. We hope the new semester goes well for you at Katanov State University. And we to hear from you again!
Please visit Slava Iatsko’s biographical sketch. It is brief but very impressive.
