Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
Kevin McClung
Kevin is from New England and enjoys magical realism, other literary fiction and bitpunk. He has published in Portrait of New England and Irish-language poetry in An Gael.
“Conversation with a Butterfly” appears to recount a visit to a kind of indoor zoo that protects colorful creatures against the winter. Butterflies are well advised not to try to exit to the harsh world by way of the dangerous greenhouse vent.
Do butterflies “live more fully” than humans, even in the butterflies’ week-long lifespan? Readers will feel free to question the assertion but, if the readers live in their own paradises, they’ll surely be glad to remain in them. If their life isn’t paradisical, then they’ll have to take their chances, perhaps even at some form of a greenhouse vent.
