Stories Change Paths
by Brent Yergensen
Unaware of the story, passive observing
Slowing feeling the change a narrative was stirring
A journey divisive but showing evil’s naked ambition
Metaphoric value giving artistic remission
Temptation, power, all of its lusts
Like things in training seemed success’s musts
But stories exhibit what life is about
In the brutality of pain’s artistic clout
A life so bored, centered on math
Supplanted by a king’s wandering path
He refused to endanger the innocent and pure
And hoped for reassurance whilst the narrative unsure
Seeing ourselves in two travelers, their friends then gone
As they walked into the darkness, the narrative not done
