Bewildering Stories

Challenge 115

Turnabouts are Fair Play

The net of suspicion is drawing tighter around Harry Stafford in “The Kestron Lenses.” And yet he continues his vampiric murder rampage. At the close of part 5, in this issue, you just know that Dawn Gardener is hastening to a gory end. We also know from the historical inserts that the bloodthirsty Kestron Lenses prefer women as their victims. Looking back on the current and previous installments, we find more or less brief descriptions of each of Harry’s victims. How are they alike? What seems to qualify them for murder?

In “Pulling Through,” methane-smoking, hydrogen peroxide-swigging Erb must chunk out yet another Earthly masterpiece for his slithery, deadline-happy boss. Okay, Earthlings, show us some hack work from Erb’s planet that would be a masterpiece on Earth.

Gaia has begun its last chapter. Now, as always, it’s your turn: what Challenges would you pose about Tala Bar’s novel?
