News from down home

by Jerry Wright

Well, here’s all the news from Lake Woebegon. No, wait, that would be someone else. As y’all can see, Bewildering Stories is in fine fettle as we chug along with new stories, new writers, and the TFT Contest.

So. What’s been happening with me? I’ve been burning the candle, the rope, the midnight oil, the whatever at both ends for the last several weeks trying to get my son and his family in a relatively stable situation. He had several electrical contracts that needed to be finished, as well as his income tax, meetings with various government agencies, and all that other fun stuff. And since the Doctor put him in a back brace (thank goodness not a body cast) he’s been somewhat limited in what he can do. So it’s up to Dad. “Sleep? What’s that?”

So it is finally winding down, and by the end of March we should be basically “normal” (whatever that means)!

You never think of disasters like this happening to you and your loved ones. “Disasters”... Hmmm, funny word. “Dis” meaning “not” or “against”; “asters” having to do with stars. Astrology for fun and profit. Or pain and poverty.

Anyway, all your love and kindness and good wishes are appreciated, and you find out quickly who your friends are. Just remember, a friend in need is a pain in the neck. Well, we hope not.

Yours in perspiration,

Jerry
