In the Good Old Summertime... Unless It’s Winter
As three North American national holidays approach (July 1 in Canada, July 4 in the U.S., July 14 on St-Pierre and Miquelon), references to summer won’t make a lot of sense to our contributors in the southern hemisphere. So we’ll limit ourselves to observing Bewildering Stories’ Third Anniversary.
Jerry notes that the “purple” edition (issue zero) appeared on June 25, 2002; issue number 1, on July 2. Our veteran readers and contributors know we’ve come a long way since then. It’s been no mean feat, since we’ve had to learn everything from scratch. And we’re still at it.
Normally, issue 155 would appear on Monday, July 4. In view of the holidays and our anniversary, we plan an unnumbered Third Anniversary Midyear Retrospective. It will cover issues 126-150 and will resemble the 2004 Year’s End Retrospective between issues 128 and 129. And it will take its place along with our previous Retrospectives in the Anthologies department
Our astute readers are surely already thinking: “It’s midyear on the calendar but year’s end for Bewildering Stories. How appropriately... bewildering.” Yes, indeed, we planned it that way... And we wish you happy summer or winter fun, wherever you may be.
