Forbidden

by Gary West

Midnight moonlight
seeping through porous shadow fleshed beings
scantily clad in billowy wisps of mildewed fog
creeping crawling with calloused palms
scarred knees
bleeding damp sticky slug-trails
across desperately etched faces
writhing
shifting
twisting into agonized dream shapes
hideous afterimages
of wretched wrenched souls
devouring foul nocturnal trolls
impatiently conjuring
the black sentient nightmares
hovering just beneath our darkest
most treasured
thoughts.
