Pluto

by Arnold H. Hollander

It is no longer right;
I don’t care what you were told.
Your teachers got it wrong,
if I may be so bold.

Pluto is not a planet;
only eight can make that claim.
All those books that said it was,
well, they can share the blame.

It didn’t have sufficient size;
that led to its lowered class.
It lacked not its sense of worth;
the thing it lacked was mass.

If only those Plutonians
did as we do here on earth,
Chow down on soda and fries,
no question it would increase their girth!
