Response reports to Duotrope
Duotrope maintains a list of markets and Bewildering Stories is listed. It’s important that contributors go to Duotrope and record the response times. It helps Bewildering Stories’ rating and attracts more authors.
Here’s a link to the duotrope response page.
You might also consider adding a note to your acknowledgment and acceptance emails, something like ‘please consider listing this acceptance (or please consider listing this response) on Duotrope.’
I know it would help me to remember to go do that and there are probably a lot of authors who don’t know they should be doing it.

Thank you very much for the advice and the link! One contributor looked at the time stamp on an “ack” and asked how could I send an acknowledgment before he’d even sent the submission.
I glossed over the fact that e-mail server clocks aren’t always synchronized exactly and told him I’d be glad to send him the results of tomorrow’s horse races — for a small fee.
Unfortunately, our acknowledgments don’t always go out so fast, for various reasons. Sometimes I just plain get behind in the mail. Sometimes mail is lost in transmission, and I never get it at all. And there’s one contributor whose spam filters are so tight that I doubt he can even send e-mail to himself; we’ve tried, with no luck.
Does anybody have any ideas where to put the Duotrope link? I’m not going to put it in the menu bar, which appears at the top of all pages. The only external link in the menu bar is Mike Lloyd’s index; it has pride of place.
Perhaps in the menu column on the home page? Or should we even worry about it? Send us your opinion! I’ll summarize the responses, but alas, you won’t get an “ack.”
