The picture is taken in black and white
what a perfect image
of two family members
walking side by side
into an old covered bridge
filled with darkness

Sunlight squeezes its way in
barely showing itself through the rotting boards
filled with ravenous termites
eating away at their feast
as it stands above a running stream

what a silhouette they make
of a mother and son
walking through the cold darkness
creaking the boards with each step
about to reach the other side
into the divine light
