Bewildering Stories

Rock Fans

Challenge 265: How might Lincoln Crisler’s “Farewell Engagement” be written as a comedy — or even a farcical satire — about rock fans?

I think I worked in that particular club in the mid-seventies, and yes, if you want horror, turn up the lights in these clubs, just a little. My club was called Mother’s. Lots of fond memories. Enough about me.

To increase the element of farce in a story like this, I might introduce a few dead rock stars playing as opening acts for the young bloods, and opening courses for the devoted and hungry audience. Jim Morrison might be more reluctant to expose himself onstage to this particular crowd!

I really enjoyed the off stage presence of Preston, the treacherous “manager.” He certainly got his cut!
