Carlotta’s Revenge
by Anna Ruiz
“There’s no end of me in sight,”
she laments
and I am rapt with attention
disintegrating in the culminating
anticipation
ruminations of my mind going blank
or berserk,
oh, I am caught betwixt and between
the cauldron calling the kettle black
a drama queen engages
a riot with Lucifer himself,
GIVE ME BACK MY POETRY!
you pretender, you trickster,
you fool,
you don’t have to say you love me,
or not, besides it’s autumn now and the
daisies are long dead heads,
the green is fading into the earth
with all the “done somebody wrong” songs.
