Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Seymour H. Linden
“There is no story so truly Bewildering as reality.” Seymour Linden’s biographical sketch exemplifies the truth of that motto of ours. If Seymour’s bio had been sent to us as a memoir, the reaction would surely have been: “This is a fictional memoir, right? I mean, nobody leads such an eventful and remarkable life. If so, what have I been doing all this time?”
The beauty of it is that Seymour recounts his story matter-of-factly, with neither pretention nor false modesty. In his prose as in his life, Seymour understands and prizes the moment.
I can’t begin to tell you all he’s done; I won’t even try. In the end, though, it’s not a super-human story but a story lived on a high level by a person who’s real in the best sense of the word.
Suffice it to say that “A Late Lunch” and “A Surreptitious Cigar” are typical moments, ones that you, too, will prize...
