Bewildering Stories welcomes...

Raquel D. Bailey

Raquel hails from St. Andrew, Jamaica and is now a member of Western Australia Poets, Inc. She is the founding editor of the e-zine Lyrical Passion Poetry. Her preferred genres seem to be haiku and Japanese short-form poetry and fiction.

Alas, Raquel, as a matter of policy Bewildering Stories abstains from micro-poetry or micro-fiction; as your bio sketch shows, plenty of other webzines specialize in those genres.

“After the Rain, Before the Storm” paints a bleak picture of a brother and sister who have irreconcilable differences. Little Ben is materialistic and grasping; his sister Ashley is ethereal and imaginative. Neither one seems to fulfill their childhood dreams.

In fact, the story could be read as a cautionary tale for would-be writers: don’t dream of cashing in big without yet having set pen to paper or finger to keyboard. Creating art is the whole point. And, quite incidentally, the artist may even be rewarded if he or she is very good and very lucky.

Raquel D. Bailey’s bio sketch can be found here.

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Raquel. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
