Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Abha Iyengar
Abha’s prose fiction and poetry have won prizes internationally. Abha is a member of the Poetry Society of India.
“Drought Country” tells an allegorical tale in realistic mode. The drought is depicted in detail, and yet it is not only an effect of weather: Baabul is living in a spiritual desert. His mother’s odd request for peacock feathers gives Baabul a chance to transcend his condition and see beauty as she does.
“Drought Country” and Raquel D. Bailey’s “After the Rain, Before the Storm” are set at opposite ends of the earth, but they tell, each in its own way, very similar stories.
