Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Daniel VanTassel
Daniel lists several careers he’s retired from, including those of Naval officer, ski instructor, English teacher, and Adirondack guideboat builder. His writing has appeared in journals of non-fiction and humor, and he’s achieved recognition in two literary competitions. He is looking for a good home for two novels he’s completed: one is a spy thriller; the other is historical fiction.
“Walking Papers” illustrates the difference between a short short story and a vignette. The reader sees a narrator who is attracted to a particular woman (that’s the vignette), and yet the reader has just enough clues to sketch in a backstory mentally and understand the conclusion: why the narrator might be wise enough to refuse her advances (that’s the story).
Daniel VanTassel’s bio sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Daniel. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
