Christine lives in Belleville, Illinois and has been writing since before she knew how to. She specializes in young adult fantasy and has published a series of books as well as stories in various magazines.

“One Thousand and One Maidens” is a serial but is complete on line as of this issue. It brings together two characters: Alcyb, a djinn, and his “master,” Veela. Alcyb is sworn to a terrible fate, and Veela is a siren of the woods whose porcelain-like beauty can be fatal to mere mortals.

Alcyb falls in love with Veela, and she is not unreceptive. A love story in which two apparently mismatched characters live happily ever after would seem to be in order. But Alcyb and Veela both have fatal flaws.
