Bewildering Stories welcomes...

Richard M. Smith

At an early age, Richard was enthralled, like many readers his age, by the book The Conquest of Space. If an astronaut he could not be, then a position at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory was surely the next best thing: he visited almost first-hand the Solar System that had been so superbly illustrated years before by artist Chesley Bonestell.

Richard’s hobbies include epigraphic studies and ray-trace renderings. He has created cover art for the first four volumes of Dwardu Cardona’s opus on a mytho-historical record.

A Bridge to Earth” begins as a serial in this issue and will continue probably through issue 457. Its “worlds in collision” premise recalls the visions of Cardona and Velikovsky. But the story is of more than theoretical interest. It raises the question How might an impending collision affect the inhabitants of Earth as well as those of a planet circling an approaching “rogue star”?
