Johanna Miklós

Johanna is from Munich, Germany and now lives in New York. Fluently bilingual in both German and English, Johanna says she has an advantage in writing: comparing vocabulary enables her to seek out essences, specificities and universalities as well as cultural differences.

“What John Dreads” is one of the shorter flash fiction stories we’ve published. And yet it is complete, because it forces a choice upon the reader. Shall we laugh at the single father’s hapless housekeeping or shall we imagine him putting away the beer and making a note to buy the right kind of peanut butter for little Bobby next time?
